River North
One of the city’s newest neighborhoods, River North is located directly west of the Magnificent Mile. Previously an industrial neighborhood popular among artists and gallery owners, developers have since converted many old warehouse buildings into luxury lofts. Today, the area offers a diverse mix of residential lofts, townhouses, high-rises and large single-family homes along with trendy boutiques, restaurants, galleries and a new park. There are several new developments in the pipeline as well. River North extends from State Street west to the North Branch of the Chicago River, and from the Chicago River (between Wacker Drive and Kinzie) north to Chicago Avenue.
